We work with trusted freight forwarding and customs brokerage partners rather than providing these services directly. We’ll connect you with firms that specialize in your type of shipment, and your account manager coordinates between all parties. If you already have a freight forwarder or customs broker you prefer, we’re happy to work with them.

The typical path is: your manufacturer ships your goods via ocean or air freight to a US port, a customs broker clears them through customs, and then the freight is delivered to our warehouse. We can recommend partners for each step and coordinate the receiving on our end so there are no delays once the goods arrive.

A freight forwarder arranges the physical transportation of your goods—booking cargo space, managing the shipping route, and coordinating delivery to the destination. A customs broker handles the regulatory side—filing paperwork with US Customs, calculating duties, and making sure your shipment is compliant with import rules. You typically need both when importing goods.

Generally, yes. US Customs usually requires a Federal Tax ID (EIN) and a US mailing address for import shipments. While Fulfillrite can be listed as a storage location on shipping documents, we can’t provide our Tax ID or serve as the “Ultimate Consignee.” We have a guide to help you obtain an EIN if you need one.

We receive and process incoming shipments the same day they arrive. Products are inspected, quantities are verified, and inventory is updated in your Client Dashboard. You’ll receive an email notification as soon as receiving is complete and your products are ready to ship.

Yes. You can have different suppliers or manufacturers ship directly to our warehouse. Just let your account manager know what’s coming and when, so we can plan the receiving and make sure everything gets attributed to your account correctly.

All brokerage fees, customs duties, and taxes must be paid in full before goods arrive at our warehouse. We also ask that you provide advance notice of incoming shipments, including expected delivery dates and a packing list, so we can process everything efficiently on arrival.

Ocean freight is significantly cheaper but slower—typically 3-6 weeks from Asia to the US. Air freight is faster (days instead of weeks) but costs more per unit. The right choice depends on your timeline, budget, and how urgently you need inventory. Our freight forwarding partners can help you weigh the options.

Our customs brokerage partners handle HS code classification and duty calculations. Getting the classification right is important—incorrect codes can result in overpaying duties or, worse, penalties and shipment holds.
